Kampa Island - Prague - Czech
Crossing over Charles Bridge from the Star? Mesto side, you'll see one of the best photo opportunities in the city: the twin towers of the bridge, framing an almost perfect view of the Church of St Nicholas and the Castle behind. Before continuing, however, take the flight of steps on the left, leading down to Na Kampe, the principal square of Kampa Island. Until 1770, it was known simply as Ostrov or 'island', which understandably led to confusion with the other islands of the Vltava. Kampa is an oasis of calm on even the most crowded August day. One of the loveliest parks in the city is located at its southern end. This was created in the nineteenth century when an egalitarian decision was made to join the gardens of three private palaces and throw them open to the public. While washerwomen once rinsed shirts on the banks (note the Chapel to St John of the Laundry near the southern end), today it's taken up by snoozing office workers and bongo-beating Eurohippies. The river and bridge views are as romantic as they come, while the chestnut trees make shady spots for reading and recharging. In spring the park is filled with pink blossom. Kampa Park the restaurant, one of Prague's classier and pricier eateries, is actually at the other end of the island, where the Certovka runs back into the river.

Leal Senado Square - Macau - China
Leal Senado SquareThe 'Largo do Senado', Senado Square is situated in the heart of Macau's shopping area and is undoubtedly one of the most interesting spots in the city. Both tourists and local people enjoy the square, where there are a lot of activities all year round. Covering 3,700 square meters, the wave-patterned mosaic tile pavement was created by Portuguese experts in a traditional style found in many parts of Southern Europe. From the main road to the Church of St. Dominic, the pavement extends to the Ruins of St. Paul's, making the heart of the city a pedestrian paradise. All but essential vehicles are banned from the square, which features a fountain shaped like an artillery sphere as well as monumental plants and benches.
