Notre Dame - Paris

Notre Dame. Begun in 1163, the Cathedral de Notre-Dame was finally completed in 1361. After the Revolution, the building fell into disrepair and was even used to shelter livestock, but Victor Hugo's 1831 novel, Notre-Dame-de-Paris (The Hunchback of Notre Dame) inspired citizens to push for restoration.
