Hotel Kamp - Helsinki - Finland
Previous Next
The Hotel Kamp, a historic Helsinki landmark that was the haunt of Finland's rich and famous, has been reincarnated - again. Three decades ago, the hotel was razed. Later, it was rebuilt and turned into dull bank offices. Now it has reopened as Helsinki's only luxury hotel, and officials think the move shows Finland really has become a part of Europe. This spring, after two years and 200 million markkaa ($36 million US) in renovations, the hotel reopened as a replica of its predecessor with yellow and mauve, marble Corinthian columns and plush mustard-colored sofas.
