Museum of Archeology & History - Montreal
Previous Next
Museum of Archeology & History. This museum is designed to present the rich history of the quarter in which it's located - the small triangle of land where Montreal was born, where the Saint Pierre River joins the St. Lawrence. The museum is composed of three parts. The modern structure encloses permanent and temporary exhibit halls and features a multimedia presentation. The crypt, under the Place Royal square, provides a setting for the display of articles recovered during various archaeological digs. The neoclassical Old Customs House (1838) dominating Place Royale houses a permanent exhibit on 19th- and 20th-century Montreal history.
