National Theater. Israelis took pride in their cultural institutions from the very beginning. The country had - and still has - one of the world's highest theater-going rates. The Habimah Theater, which was founded in Russia in 1917 and moved to Tel Aviv in 1932, emerged as Israel's national theater.
