City Hall - Belfast
City Hall. The City Hall, built around 1903, dominates the main shopping area. Built in the grand Classical Renaissance style, with an Italian marble interior, it looks rather like American state capitol buildings except for the big statue of Queen Victoria at the front. She came to Belfast in 1849 - gave the town the status of city - and must have been held in high esteem by its citizens since dozens of streets, a hospital, a park, a man-made island, the harbour deep-water channel and the University were all named after her.

City Hall - Stockholm - Sweden
Stockholm is justifiably proud of the Stadshuset (City Hall), a distinctive red brick building that dominates Kungsholmen (King's Island). Completed in 1923, the building is massively constructed, designed for heavy use and low maintenance in Stockholm's harsh weather. Yet it is also designed to celebrate Stockholm and Sweden, starting with the three golden crowns at the top of the tower. The ""three crowns"" have been the symbol for Sweden for at least 700 years, though exactly what they represent is a matter of debate. An extraordinary collection of Swedish artwork adorns the outside of the building and the grounds, covering everything from classic Swedish forms to very modern works.

City Park Bridge - Budapest - Hungary
A thousand years ago Pest, which was just an island in the Danube, was surrounded by a branch of the river. Over the centuries, the riverbed slowly dried up, leaving a small ditch occasionally filled with drain water in the empty land around the old city walls. Late last century an idea was floated to turn the ditch into a channel with bridges at each avenue and ornamental parks on each side.

Drottingholm - Stockholm - Sweden
Drottningholm Palace has been the home of the Royal Family since 1981. The name Drottningholm (literally ""Queen's Island"") originated in the late 16th century, when King Johan III built the first Palace on this site, for his Consort, Queen Katarina Jagellonika. The 16th century Palace was destroyed by fire on 30th December 1661. Earlier that year the Queen Dowager, Hedvig Eleonora, had bought the Palace. The Palace was also given an exclusive French Baroque park, large parts of which have been preserved. The bronze sculptures in the park are by Adrian de Vries, one of the most eminent sculptors of the Northern European Renaissance. The collection came to Sweden as booty from Prague and from Fredriksborg Palace in Denmark.
