Place de la Concorde. The Place de la Concorde, Paris's largest Public Square, is at the western edge of the Tuileries. Constructed between 1757 and 1777 to hold a monument to Louis XV, the vast area soon became the place de la revolution, site of a guillotine that killed 1343 people. After the Reign of terror, the square was renamed-Concorde means peace.
